Who I am, why I'm doing this and what I ate for breakfast this morning. Maybe.

The last time I wrote one of these was last year. I re-read it and I can only describe it as 'interesting'. Things have changed quite a lot since then so I thought I'd start afresh.

Who am I? Well, have a look.
Most of you will know me as Jo_ham, assuming you've heard of me before of course. I also go by my regular name, Joe. I tend to get funny looks if I sign for things using Jo_ham. Things are further complicated since my surname is Jones. I am among the ranks of people with alliterative names. I'm right up there with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Gordon the Gopher (remember him?). Cassius Clay also had an alliterative name, but he changed it... oops.

Why am I writing this?
I'm writing it because I rediscovered my ability to actually write something that I thought was good. I had another go to see if it was a fluke and was pleased with the results. A friend of mine said I should consider a journal, and here I am. That was four years ago now, and I'm still going strong.

I recently broke up with my girlfriend of two years, Erika, which is what prompted me to look at all my static pages and get round to updating them. Not so much to clear out anything that reminded me of her - she's still on my links page and so on, but just becuase I hadn't done it since I left London and most of the info was quite a bit out of date. I'll miss Erika, since this relationship turned out immeasurably better than the previous one I had. It's sad that it's over, but it was a mutual decision (although I was the one who called Time Gentlemen Please with a sound ring of the bell). I don't have any regrets, aside from a sincere wish that we could have lived closer together, or that we could have lasted long enough apart to sort out the huge distance problem.

I'm a student at DeMontfort University in Leicester at the moment, studying for a PGCE in Design Technology (yeah, who'd be a teacher?). Long live the cheap pint in the student bar. I spend most of my time at my placement schools, so i don't see my uni friends enough for my liking.

I have an engineering degree, from Queen Mary, University of London, hence the tag time for this journal and on the bottom of my emails. Man thinks about sex every six seconds. Engineers think about the mechanics of objects every six seconds. We think about sex too, we just have to fit it in between thinking about how things work and making the world go round. So we think about it every three seconds instead.

I'm a quarter of the up and coming Affixxius Productions, a video and media production company based in the Midlands. A career that I hope to develop much further, since it's extremely enjoyable.

I'm addicted to Quake III and Q3 Team Arena as well as a couple of other choice first person shooters. I tend not to play online, but I love a good LAN match. Favourite weapons: shotgun and railgun.

What did I eat for breakfast this morning?
Probably nothing. If it's a choice between the remains of last night's takeaway (left out on the table) or some stale bread then I usually opt to get something when I get to uni. I am partial to a glass of apple juice if I haven't finished it all off the night before. Heath cereals are out though. They are unhealthy on my wallet, and they usually look like sawdust or in some cases, dehydrated vomit. Add milk to taste.

Anything else you should know about me?
One or more of the following maybe.

• Joe is a capricorn, born on the 7th of January about 1981ish.


• He once had one of those pedal cars with the battery powered light on the bonnet to make it look like a police car.


• He always wanted one of those red and yellow push cars with the working doors.


• He has never paid tax. (I have now, alas!)


• He supports Birmingham City Football Club (well, you can't accuse me of being a glory boy)


• On Saturdays he usually sleeps until about midday.


• The same is true of Sundays, but always getting up in time to ctach the repeat of Futurama.


• Joe believes that HP Fruity sauce is much nicer than regular HP.


• He also believes that Apple Macs are better than PCs in every way except one.


• He believes this use to be as a door stop or paperweight etc...


• Joes does not eat cheese. Or pasta. Or tomatos.


• He cites this as the reason he's never been to Italy.


• Joe thinks that Willow is much more attractive than Buffy.


• Joe thinks that people in glass houses should have sex in the basement.
