Online tour of my houseWho would live in a house like this? |
|
I got this idea from Emily over at Mildew. I thought people would be interested to see the neat little terraced house that I live in now with Alex and Natasha. It's no presedential palace, but an Englishman's home is his castle. It's just a pity I don't actually own this house and that if I ran out of money it would be taken away from me and I'd be typing this from the street. Well, the internet cafe in the gutter at any rate. The images are all fairly small, but may take a few seconds on a 56k modem. None of them are bigger than 640x480 though. With that out of the way, here is my house: My room I took several shots in here, my main living area. It's everything from a bedroom to a study, and it's on the the ground floor of the house, next to the living room. My desk and TV - The desk is there solely to accomodate all on my hifi and TV stuff. What else would I use it for! What a mirror! - A little further round and the lovely *ahem* art deco mirror comes into shot. I did my best to cover it up with photos and postcards. You can also see the first lady, the lovely Alyson Hannigan, who lives above my computer where she gives me inspiration. Or something like that. Bed - That mirror again (if you think seeing it twice is bad, then try living with it). My fabulous double bed is also in shot. you can see a better shot of the bed here. Only marginally more tasteful than the mirror are those curtains. They're really heavy and keep the heat in though, so I can't complain. Aside from the gorgeous miss Hannigan I have two other posters up in my room, as well as a few smaller things. You've all seen my five foot wide Pink Floyd poster if you read my December 4 entry, but it's here in case you haven't seen it yet. On my other wall is this fabulous Red Dwarf poster. The only errors on it are the ommision of Hattie Hayridge, who also played Holly for a short period, and the glaring omission of the 'H' on Rimmer's forehead, although I suppose in series 8 he did play his alive self after 7 series of being dead. On the same wall as my Pink Floyd poster I have some print outs from The Far Side and a drawing of me done by Lara while I was working in Bedford over the summer. That image is here. You can also see the door in this picture. Cool stuff in my room. You can have a gander at the cool stuff in my room in these pics. Here is my stack of HiFi stuff. The VCR is at the bottom, the Minidisc deck is in the middle and my DVD player is on the top. There's a closer shot of the Minidisc deck's display here showing everyone's favourite URL, even if it doesn't fit on the screen all at once. Finally, a pic of my computer with an identity crisis. I'm not all techno freak, although that makes up a large part of me. Here are some images of the animals I share my room with. The snowman and the whale are here - the snowman was a present from Renata, and I bought the whale when I was in Target (during a visit to see my aunt in Florida). The gorilla was a cuddly toy that beeni was going to get rid of ages ago, so I took him in and gave him a home. Hall There's not all that much of the hall. You can see the dodgy bit of furniture that won't fit anywhere else, Alex's bike, Lolly's cage and the front door. I did have some pictures of the outside of the house, but I mustn't have transferred them from the camera before wiping the memory. Kitchen The kitchen is pretty cool. It's quite small and we usually find that we want to use it all at the same time so end up in what looks like a carefully coreographed dance, moving around each other with sharp knives, hot pans and other dangerous stuff. We should really look at taking that to stage. We could be huge. From the hall this is the view, and looking from the other end this is what you see. Notice the pile of unwashed dishes. It's not always like that, honest. Living Room If you've been reading me for long enough then you know that I used to live in Warren Road, where our communal living space was the kitchen. The thought of relaxing for an evening in our current kitchen isn't a great thought, so it's fortunate that we have a real life actual living room and here it is. The shot from the door, showing yet another fabulous art deco mirror, this time with orange surrounding mirror pieces. Round to the right is the table and the TV, and opposite the TV is the big sofa. Bathroom Last but not least is the bathroom. I'm only showing you this so you can see the tiles that we have to live with - have a look at these beauties. You can also see the really fabulous fish that hold the towel rail and the toilet paper thing. You can also see the shower that was responsible for slow cooking me every time I got under it - a 1930s shower doesn't go well with a 2001 instant boiler. It's been jury rigged with a non return valve and more pressure on the cold pipe so it works now, but the controls are a bit manky. My dream is a power-shower, but I think I'll be winning the lottery first. So there it is. My house as photographed in December 2001. If I find the shots I took of the outside then I'll add them on this page, but I think they're long gone. |
