[Random Wibbles: because engineers think just that little bit differently.]

Technical Gubbins

Two toilet roll tubes and some sticky back plastic.

Random Wibbles is written using TextEdit and SubEthaEdit on my lovely 2002 iBook, called Helen running OSX 10.3.2 'Panther'. All images are created, edited, scanned and so on in Adobe Photoshop 7. I also have a Sony DSC-P71 digital camera, that I love. I upload using NcFTP (a great freeware ftp client that runs on a plethora of platforms) from OSX's terminal.

My site is hosted by Apollohosting and runs on Apache. My mailing list used to be a really simple affair involving a text file full of email addresses, cut and paste and my email program. It's even easier now - using Address Book and Mail.app to do it all for me. Very handy.

My php journal script was written for me by my friend Denise, and it has made updating a doddle. For this reason alone, she deserves thousands of hugs.

I aim to make all the html and css I write conform to w3c standards, using their online validator services. There are far too many sites out there on the net that ignore the proper standards and only work on Internet Explorer or other broken browsers. Would put up you with usage wrong English language? If you find anything broken on my site, or you run a page through the validator and it fails then please email me and let me know.

The floating info boxes on my index page that appear on the left when you hover over my navigation bar links are done with CSS1 only. There is no javascript or flash on any of my pages. Internet Explorer doesn't support CSS1 properly, so this feature only works in Mozilla and other browsers using the gecko or KHTML rendering engines.

Joe runs on vegetable soup, caffeine and brown bread. He is possibly addicted to sugar.
